Defective and Damage Return & Repair
M. Rothman will accept defective returns for exchange only. In the event an even exchange is not available, or at the discretion of M. Rothman, the dealer will be issued a credit. Purchases made within 3 months of your last date of purchase are eligible for return privileges. Product must have defective return privileges to qualify.
Returns must be requested with an RA# issued by M. Rothman.
Request must indicate reason for the return, or nature of defects.
Only approved product may be returned.
A 15% restocking-fee will be deducted from your credit on approved good stock returns, and drop shipped returns with no replacements.
Defective shipment must be prepaid to M. Rothman.
Damaged shipment are the responsibilities of the shipper with records.
Shipping labels must be clearly marked with RA#.
If shipping common carrier, you must call for an appointment.
Returns will be 100% inspected. If product is found not to be defective, abused, missing major components or not authorized for return, each unit will be subject to a $25.00 inspection and administration fee.
*If product is found to be missing accessories, account will be charged back with the current cost price accordingly.
In the case of fulfillment orders shipped directly to the end user, if a product qualifies for return, the time frame is 30 days from the original purchase date. End User sales receipt must be attached to the product carton for verification.
Merchandise received damaged via common carrier, LTL, and Fed Ex must be reported within 7 business days from date received.
Merchandise received damaged via United Parcel Service must be reported within 20 business days.
To secure a full credit, shipper with records must file a damaged freight claim with the carrier, original carton and packing must be available for inspection procedures.

Letter regarding Sharp Electronics defective return policies:
Dear Valued M. Rothman Dealer,
As the fast paced electronics industry continues to change and evolve, policy and procedure revisions are imminent. Many manufacturers are implementing new return to vendor policies due to the escalating cost of handling and processing of returns. Sharp Electronics, one such manufacturer, is putting into place new guidelines for dealer product returns.
I would like to highlight some of the key points of the revised Sharp defective return policy.
Guidelines
Defective merchandise returned to M. Rothman is limited to the following:
RA request is made directly to M. Rothman and account will receive RA approval/feedback in writing within 2 business days.
Merchandise that is determined to be defective within 30 days of sale to the consumer. Merchandise must be in "like new condition."
Merchandise requested for return is within (3) months of date of purchase from M. Rothman. Any product not meeting above criteria will not be issued a RA nor will be credited. If the product is returned without a RA, the product will be returned to you at dealers cost with dealer incurring the return freight charges. The dealer then has the option to repair product at their nearest Sharp Authorized repair center.
3rd Party Preliminary Inspection of Returned Products
A 3rd party company representing Sharp Electronics will perform a bench test on returned product. This procedure is performed at the M. Rothman facility.
Merchandise found not to be defective by Sharp's 3rd party inspection will not be eligible for return. Credit will not be issued on non-defective* product and the product will be returned to you at dealers cost with dealer incurring the return freight charges. *Non-defective product is defined as customer remorse/no problem found and damaged products. The dealer then has the option to repair product at their nearest Sharp Authorized repair center.
Missing Accessories & Packaging
M. Rothman will deduct the appropriate value for missing parts, accessories, and packaging from the credit issued. Deductions will be based on a price list provided by Sharp Electronics. A copy of this list will be provided to you.
Sharp Electronics will issue full credit and accept returns on product that is deemed defective and complete with all packaging and accessories included. As you can see, the escalating cost of processing returns is being addressed seriously by the manufacturing community

It is understood that the title and risk of loss of merchandise sold by M.Rothman and co.,inc to the account is transferred to the account at the time when such merchandise is placed in the custody of a carrier for shipment to the account. It is the responsibility of the account to file any insurance claim for damaged merchandise immediately after merchandise arrival.

40) Returns and what is credited
On an outbound order, the customer will be charged for shipping, handling, and possibly a minimum order charge. If the dealer should return the item, they will be credited only for the actual cost of goods less any cash discounts taken.
