Doba Co-Founder Leads Drop Shipping Session at IRCE 2011
Presentation at top industry conference recognizes drop shipping's importance in e-commerce
OREM, Utah - Jeremy Hanks, co-founder, chairman and president of Doba, a leader in product sourcing software and solutions for online retailers, will speak June 15 at the Internet Retailer Conference & Exhibition 2011 (IRCE), the world's largest e-commerce conference and trade show. IRCE 2011 is expected to draw nearly 500 exhibitors and more than 7,000 Internet and e-commerce professionals to San Diego, Calif., June 14-17. This will be Doba's fourth year as an IRCE exhibitor, but the first time a Doba executive has been invited to make a presentation at this prestigious conference.
"This is the event for Internet retail, and we're really excited about leading a session," Hanks said. "Just being asked to speak is recognition of drop shipping's growth and its important place in the supply chain."
Hanks' session, titled "How Web-Based Wholesalers Are Changing the Buying Process," will highlight Day 2 of the conference. "The presentation will tell attendees how to navigate the emerging wholesale market," Hanks said. "It will cover how to find the right products, how to gauge the reputation of a supplier, how to customize standard agreements, and what other services - such as drop shipping, providing images and product descriptions for a retailer's website – this new breed of Internet wholesalers can provide."
Hanks and co-presenter Jason Roussos, president of Living Direct, Inc., will also address business relationships and marketing in emerging retail environments. "Managing a retailer-supplier relationship when almost everything takes place online is different, and must be approached in a new way," Hanks said. "So does marketing. Our presentation will show how a company can differentiate itself to consumers when all retailers doing business with the network are getting the same services."
Placing the Hanks-Roussos session in the prime 4:15 p.m.-5 p.m. time slot on the second day of IRCE's 100 sessions is a strong indication that that conference organizers and the e-commerce industry trade publication Internet Retailer recognize the increasing role drop shipping plays within the retail sector. "Drop ship fulfillment is not just for small sellers who use eBay or turn-key websites or store builders anymore," Hanks said. "It's also for large sellers such as those on Internet Retailer's Top 500 list."
Hanks co-presenter Roussos heads Living Direct, Inc., which owns and operates LivingDirect.com. The company is ranked 253 in the recent Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide to business-to-consumer online retail websites, based on online sales of $49 million in FY10, up 25.6 percent from FY09.
