Temu's Seller Center accepts both business and individual applicants with no registration fee, typically requiring identity verification, business or tax documentation for business accounts, and a linked payment method. Registration can be done at seller.temu.com, a separate login from the regular Temu shopping app, and most complete applications get a decision within about a business day.
Business Account vs. Individual Account
Temu accepts both account types.
Individual accounts are for someone selling under their own name rather than a registered business. Required documents typically include a government-issued ID or passport, proof of address, and bank account details that match the name on file.
Business accounts cover sole proprietorships, LLCs, and corporations selling for profit. These require a business license or tax ID, the legal business name exactly as registered, a registered business address, and legal representative information: name, citizenship, date of birth, and residential address for whoever's listed as the business owner or authorized rep.
Temu runs exact-match verification between the name on submitted ID documents and the name on the linked bank account. A mismatch there is one of the most common reasons an otherwise complete application gets delayed.
Documents Needed to Sell on Temu
Here's what to have ready before starting the application:
Tax identification number, an EIN for a business or a personal tax ID depending on account type
Bank account information, in the name matching the application, used for payouts
Government-issued ID, a driver's license or passport for the individual or business representative
Proof of address, a bank statement, utility bill, or payment processor statement
Business documentation, a business license or registration certificate, for business accounts specifically
Contact details, including a customer service contact for buyer inquiries
Applications with all of this ready upfront tend to clear in about a day. Applications missing a piece stall until it's provided.
Product Category Approval and Prohibited Items
Getting the seller account approved doesn't mean every product is automatically allowed. Products still need to clear Temu's own review, and not every category is open by default; some require submitting product samples for review before listing is allowed.
Products can't appear on Temu's prohibited items list, which covers counterfeit goods, unsafe or non-compliant items, and anything that violates local safety or regulatory standards for the category it falls under. Checking a specific product category against Temu's current prohibited and restricted items list before applying saves the trouble of getting seller approval only to find the products can't be listed.
What Gets Applications Rejected or Delayed
A few patterns show up repeatedly across seller reports: a name mismatch between ID documents and the linked bank account, blurry or low-resolution document scans (phone photos with glare or skewed angles trigger rejection more often than a proper scan), and incomplete business documentation for accounts registering as a company rather than an individual. None of these are hard blockers. They're the difference between an application that clears in a day and one that bounces back for resubmission.
Applying to Sell on Temu vs. Sourcing From Temu as a Supplier
Applying as a Temu seller means running a storefront directly on Temu's marketplace, subject to Temu's own account verification, product approval, and seller performance standards. Sourcing from Temu as a supplier, the kind of dropshipping-adjacent approach some sellers try, means treating Temu's own catalog as a product source for a store somewhere else entirely.
The seller application covered in this post has nothing to do with that second approach. Becoming an approved Temu seller doesn't grant any special access to source Temu's inventory for resale elsewhere. Sourcing decisions for another store don't require anything covered in this application process either.
Ready to Apply?
Applying as a Temu seller is a separate process from selling through Doba's own Temu integration, which runs through Temu's Local Seller Program and lets Doba sellers list Doba-sourced products without registering as an independent Temu merchant. If the goal is a standalone Temu storefront outside of Doba, the application above through Temu's Seller Center is the path. If the goal is adding Temu as another sales channel for a store already sourcing through Doba, Doba's Temu integration handles that without a separate seller application.
Either way, it's worth running the margin math before picking a category. Our profit calculator shows how profitable a product will be once Temu's fees and shipping come out.
