Business Name & Logo Generator

Name your store, see it as a logo in seconds — then run the checks that tell you whether you can actually use it. Most generators skip that part.

Tell us about your store

A sentence is plenty — the more specific, the better the names.

Free to use with a Doba account. No plan or subscription required.

Generate freely. Clear it before you commit.

This tool creates name and logo ideas. It doesn't tell you whether a name is free to use — that's a separate job, and it's worth doing before you print anything.

Check 01

Federal trademarks ↗

Search the USPTO database for registered and pending marks in your category.

Check 02

State registrations

Businesses can hold rights in a state without ever filing federally. Each state keeps its own register, so search the one your business will operate in through that state's Secretary of State.

Check 03

Domain & handles ↗

See whether the .com and the social handles you'd want are actually free. ICANN's official lookup shows who holds a domain, without trying to sell you one.

Check 04

Plain web search

An active seller using the name may hold rights without any registration at all. Search the exact name, and the name plus your category, to see who is already trading under it.

A clean search isn't a clearance. These records change daily, and whether two names are “too close” is a judgment call, not a lookup. For a name you'll build a business on, have a trademark attorney clear it.

How the name generator works

You describe what you sell; the generator builds candidates from that description rather than pulling from a fixed word list. Style and length steer the output — Descriptive keeps a real word in the name so shoppers know what you do, while Invented word trades that clarity for a name that's far easier to own and to register.

That trade-off is the whole game. A descriptive name gets understood instantly and is hard to protect, because you can't stop other sellers from describing their products accurately. An invented name means nothing on day one and everything after you've spent a year building it.

What makes a store name work

  • Say it out loud first. If you have to spell it for someone, you'll be spelling it forever.
  • Leave room to grow. CityDogTreats boxes you in the day you want to sell cat products.
  • Check it at 32 pixels. Your name spends most of its life as a browser tab and a tiny profile picture.
  • Avoid near-misses of big brands. Sounding like a household name isn't clever positioning, it's the fastest route to a takedown.
  • Pick something you can actually get. A name whose .com and handles are all taken will cost you more later than starting over now costs you today.

How to check a name before you use it

Generating is the easy half. Before a name goes on a storefront, packaging, or ads, work through the four checks above in order — federal, then state, then domains and handles, then a plain web search for anyone already trading under it. Each one catches something the others miss.

Why we don't just tell you a name is “available”Trademark rights don't come only from registration — in the US they can arise from use alone, and infringement turns on whether shoppers would confuse two brands, not on whether two strings match. No free tool can answer that, and any tool that says a generated name is “unique and original” is telling you something it hasn't checked.

Designing a logo that still works at 32 pixels

Most logos are designed at a size no customer will ever see them at. Yours will live in a browser tab, a Shopify admin sidebar, a marketplace seller badge, and a shipping label — all small, several of them in grayscale.

  • One idea per mark. If you can't describe it in a short phrase, it's too busy to shrink.
  • Test it in black first. Colour hides weak shapes; grayscale exposes them.
  • Keep the wordmark legible on its own. You'll need a version without the icon more often than you expect.
  • Mind the mark itself. The same rules apply to logos as to names — a symbol that closely echoes a known brand's is a problem no matter how it was produced.

How Doba helps you launch faster

A name and a logo are the front of a store. What decides whether it makes money is what's behind them — what you sell, what it costs you, and how fast it arrives.

  • 1M+ products to start from. Vetted suppliers, so you're picking from a real catalog on day one.
  • 90%+ US-warehoused. Fast 2–7 day domestic shipping means fewer late-delivery refunds.
  • No transaction fees. On any plan — the margin you calculate is the margin you keep.
  • Trusted since 2002. 3.2M+ sellers have built on Doba.

Name and logo ideas only — this tool does not clear names or marks for use.

You've got a name. Here's what comes next.

A name and a logo are the storefront sign. What actually makes the store work is everything behind it — and Doba has an AI tool for each step, in the order you'll need them.

Frequently asked questions

Is the business name generator free?

Yes — both the name generator and the logo maker are free, with no limit on how many times you can use them. Both ask you to sign in to a free Doba account, which is what lets us keep them free and unlimited rather than capped. A free account is all you need — there’s no plan or subscription to buy. Doba also offers a broader set of platform features for product sourcing and order automation as part of a paid subscription, but these tools are always free to use.

Are the generated names free to use?

We can’t tell you that, and neither can any other free generator. A name coming out of this tool has not been checked against trademark records — generating a name and clearing a name are different jobs. Use the four checks on this page as a starting point, and have an attorney clear anything you’re building a business on.

How do I check if a business name is already trademarked?

Start with the USPTO’s federal database, then your state’s business registry, then a plain web search for anyone already trading under the name. Federal registration is the most visible layer but not the only one — in the US, rights can arise from use alone, which is why the web search matters.

Can I use the logo commercially?

The logo files are built from basic geometric shapes and the typeface you pick, configured by you — they contain no licensed stock artwork. What you can do with a mark is a separate question from who generated it: the same clearance applies to logos as to names, and a mark that closely resembles an existing brand’s is a problem no matter how it was made. Your rights in what you download are governed by Doba’s Terms of Service.

What makes a good Shopify or dropshipping store name?

Short enough to say out loud without spelling it, broad enough that it still fits when your catalog grows, and legible at the size of a browser tab. Beyond that, the biggest practical filter is whether you can actually get the domain and handles.

Should my store name describe what I sell?

It’s a trade-off. Descriptive names are understood instantly but are hard to protect, because you can’t stop competitors from describing their products accurately. Invented names mean nothing at first but are far easier to own and register.

Do I need the exact matching .com?

It helps, but it’s no longer decisive — plenty of successful stores run on a modified domain. What matters more is consistency: if you can get the same handle across your storefront and social accounts, that’s usually worth more than an exact .com you have to buy from a reseller.

Can I change my store name later?

You can, and it’s much cheaper to do in week one than in year two. The costs that accumulate are the ones you don’t see at first — printed packaging, ad accounts, marketplace seller identities, and the search ranking attached to your old name.

The name gets them in. The sourcing keeps them.

Source from 1M+ US-warehoused products with real markup headroom, fast 2–7 day domestic shipping, and no transaction fees — the foundation behind every store that lasts past its launch week.
