The dome filter is made of highly compressed ceramic with diatomic properties. The surface of the dome consists of millions of pores with a diameter of 0.15 to 0.5 microns, and most inorganic compounds are 0.5 to 1.0 microns in size. When contaminated dirty tap water passes through the holes in the ceramic filter, it traps dirt, debris, and contaminants before the water flows to the "clean" side of the filter.

The life expectancy of the ceramic filter is 1,000 gallons or 1 year, whichever comes first.

Cleaning Recommendations

The recommended maintenance of the ceramic filter is at least once a month, or as needed according to the quality of the water. Use a scouring pad or a soft brush to scrub the surface of the ceramic dome under cool tap water to unclog the pores on the ceramic and expose a new layer for use.
